Power-Narratives SeriesThe house of the schizophrenic2019
Architectural expressions of power are widespread in everyday life yet easily overlooked. People often consider these buildings' existence to be natural and reasonable, without realizing that this is a way for power to communicate with each individual, transforming into the everyday through discipline. As a form of discourse, power architecture derives its narrative from its adversaries (such as the tradition of stone architecture), the previous powers it has overthrown (such as the Sumeru pedestal), and its "big brother" (the Soviet Union) (such as architectural styles). This hybrid form results in a madness of discourse and an aesthetic split. At the same time, from another perspective, all its discourse follows its own internal logic and meets its own needs. Therefore, when the internal logic becomes invisible, and its needs become unspeakable, the form expressed by these blank discursive texts is a series of schizophrenic manifestations: a split with its past, its present, and even its future. However, this does not affect the discourse's ability to produce illusions, release desires, and ultimately transform the mind.
